On the Second single “Deciduous (Le Feuilles Mortes)”, Guto renders a metaphor using the seasons of the year as he sings about successive autumns and comparing them to humanity’s finite existence. Leaves fall, beauty dies away, flesh rots, death. In one of the most beautiful parts of the lyrics, Diaz cites the foreword from the book Posthumous Memoirs of Braz Cubas, written by Machado de Assis: “To the first worm/ Which gnawed the cold flesh of my corpse/ I dedicate, as a token of loving memory/ These posthumous memoirs”.
